T/Sgt Roland P. McConnell

T/Sgt Roland was attached to Headquarters Co. Amphibian Engineers that was taking part in “Operation Reckless” to deny the Japanese the use of the anchorage at Humbolt Bay and the airfield inland. The Amphibious landing achieved complete surprise, facing some opposition due to the Japanese abandoning their positions, T/Sgt McConnell died from results of wounds received during this assault.
