Special Projects Coordinator - Dori
A resident of Harrison County for over twenty years. I was raised in Columbiana County on a small farm. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Geneva College with a focus on Human Resources Studies. I hold a Master of Science degree from Ohio University in Child and Family Counseling. I retired with 30 years of service working for Job and Family Service Agencies. I worked in the fields of Child Abuse and Neglect Investigations and Child Support Enforcement Agency. After retiring I obtained a teaching certificate, and became a substitute teacher for Harrison Hills School District and Conotton Valley School District. After being hired for the special projects coordinator in the EMA Office I no longer work for either school.
I was hired for the Special Projects Coordinator position in January 2016, I have been busy getting several projects underway. My first project is getting a plan in place and making contact with residents who may need assistance during an emergency situation. Planning how to assist them in the event of an evacuation or shelter in place situation. Working closely with the local shelters assisting them to prepare for emergency situations. Developing resources for additional shelters in the county. Liaison with the local First responder personnel.
I have been a volunteer EMT-B with the Tappan Lake Fire Department in my free time for the past two years. I serve on the executive board for the department as secretary. I also am a member of the Harrison County EMS association and serve as the secretary for that organization. I enjoy volunteering very much it is gratifying to know that you have helped someone in their hour of need.
I truly enjoy walking and hiking and have had the enjoyable pleasure of hiking many of the beautiful trails offered here in Harrison County. I also enjoy quilting, and gardening. Harrison County is a beautiful area to work and live in.
